Small Statistical Models by Random Feature Mixing
The application of statistical NLP systems to resource constrained devices is limited by the need to maintain parameters for a large number of features and an alphabet mapping features to parameters. We introduce random feature mixing to eliminate alphabet storage and reduce the number of parameters without severely impacting model performance.
متن کاملObservations and Theories of Langmuir Circulation: A Story of Mixing
The study of Langmuir circulation has a strongly interdisciplinary history; the first half of this work is a brief and eclectic review of this. Much of the research has been motivated by interest in the biology and chemistry of the mixed layer. These, in turn, are sensitive to details of typical particle trajectories; i.e., to high-order statistics of the flow such as time and space lagged cova...
متن کاملMixing Multiple Translation Models in Statistical Machine Translation
Statistical machine translation is often faced with the problem of combining training data from many diverse sources into a single translation model which then has to translate sentences in a new domain. We propose a novel approach, ensemble decoding, which combines a number of translation systems dynamically at the decoding step. In this paper, we evaluate performance on a domain adaptation se...
متن کاملWetting, mixing, and phase transitions in Langmuir-Gibbs films.
Millimolar bulk concentrations of the surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) induce spreading of alkanes, H(CH(2))(n)H (denoted C(n)) 12< or =n< or =21, on the water surface, which is not otherwise wet by these alkanes. The novel Langmuir-Gibbs film (LGF) formed is a liquidlike monolayer comprising both alkanes and CTAB tails. Upon cooling, an ordering transition occurs, yielding a he...
متن کاملMoving Objects Tracking Using Statistical Models
Object detection plays an important role in successfulness of a wide range of applications that involve images as input data. In this paper we have presented a new approach for background modeling by nonconsecutive frames differencing. Direction and velocity of moving objects have been extracted in order to get an appropriate sequence of frames to perform frame subtraction. Stationary parts of ...
